Thank you for visiting our Maine Coon cattery, situated on Long Island, New York. With over 30 years of experience in adopting shelter cats, we have a deep appreciation for the joy that felines bring into our lives. However, the experience of living with a Maine Coon is truly unique. Our mission is to breed and nurture healthy, affectionate, and high-quality pets that will enrich your family with years of love and companionship. We are proud to be a registered cattery with both TICA and CFA.
Introduction
Imagine this scene, a small child with blue-gray eyes, rubbing the film from the multi-paned window of her neighborhood bakery, hoping to catch a glimpse of the unique delicacy the baker makes only once each year. Hoping against hope that she could gain entry to the baker's inner sanctum, so that she might partake of this delectable treat.
I was that child, seeking my prize, my dream -- to own and breed magnificent Maine Coons. Cats have always been my passion. But the uniqueness of Maine Coons; their size, sociability and intelligence are truly a prize worth waiting for.
I was granted entry to the inner sanctum by virtue of the mentorship of Marge & Phil Berger of MaineVu Maine Coons, Judy & David Bernbaum of MTNest Maine Coons and David Billingsley of Cloistercoon. Their guidance and friendship have been invaluable.

Abscatz Maine Coons - Grandeur Behind the Windowpanes
Maine Coons are often affectionately called Gentle Giants, a term that reflects both their impressive size and their friendly, intelligent nature. Adult male Maine Coons typically weigh between 18 to 24 pounds, while females usually range from 12 to 18 pounds. While size is an important characteristic of this breed, we believe that the focus should be on overall build, which reflects strong bone structure and muscularity rather than just weight. What distinguishes Maine Coons is their exceptional temperament; they are known for being friendly, affectionate, playful, intelligent, and sociable, making them wonderful companions.
Our kittens are hand raised in a separate room in our home and are handled daily from birth until they leave for their new homes. After they have received their first shots, at roughly eight weeks, they are allowed into the main part of the house under constant supervision to continue their socialization. They each receive age-appropriate vaccines and are examined by our veterinarian before they go to their new homes at 12 weeks of age.
Prior to breeding, all mating pairs are DNA tested, using the latest methodology, for SMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy), PK Deficiency and HCM (Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy). Breeding pairs are also screened for HCM, via ultrasound, currently the most effective method for diagnosing cats affected by HCM. While no breeder can guarantee that a cat will not develop HCM in the future, we are confident that the screening performed will allow us to properly monitor all the cats in our breeding program.
We participate in TICA-sanctioned cat shows to evaluate whether our cats conform to established breed standards.
